My BF works on family and friends cars periodically during his off time. He recently worked on a car for his sister's friend. He spent hundreds of dollars to get the car ready and even gave her tires for free. After he worked on the car she claimed he damaged her car. I told him he is not responsible since he did not work on that part of the car. He wanted to fix it anyway since he felt that the car was in his possession free of charge with the exception of the cost of supplies. I felt horrible for her since she was so upset even though she yelled, berated and threatened him. I stupidly told her she could borrow my car but I needed it back the next day. 5 days later she still would not give me my car back. I called her and asked her where my car was and I would pick it up. She went crazy and started yelling threatening me, cursing at me and calling me names. I told her if my car was not back i was calling the police and reporting my car stolen. She continues to scream and yell so i called the non-emergency line and filed a complaint. She lied to the police about what happened and yelled at the police. The police worked with her for hours and were able to get me car back 4 hours later. I have most of everything documented from text messages to the conversation with the police that I would love to share but according to chatgpt it is illegal to record a phone conversation so I cannot post. I do wish I could so her character can be seen. If she can speak that way to a police officer you can imagine how she spoke to us. So she had my car for 5 days for free and had a lot of work done on her car for free including brand new tires, parts and then she yells, threatens, and and curses me out just for asking where my car is? Am I the ahole for calling the police to get my car back?
