hi everyone, i planned my own 21st birthday weekend party, and only two out of the 10 people i invited remembered my actual birthday, which is two days before the set party date, so i cancelled it. please note that ive known everyone for at LEAST three years, ive known majority of them for almost 9 years. The person i considered my best friend, didnt message me until around the last 10 minutes of the day, only AFTER i messaged the groupchat where i was giving the party info, that i was cancelling. They said “HI, happy birthday op, im sorry its so late, i had a lot to do today” I’ve never felt so pathetic and embarrassed. Other people messaged me asking why i cancelled and I feel crazy, idk if i should even respond. And honestly, only a solid 4 people, who aren’t immediate family or my partner, wished me a happy birthday. im the type of person who stays up until midnight to wish my best friends a happy birthday right when the clock strikes 12, and to consistently check my calendar the months of their bdays to make sure im not forgetting, so this really feels like somebody shot me in the chest. reddit please give me advice about what i should do, i genuinely have never felt so ridiculous
