I apologise for formatting or spelling errors, I have dyslexia and am on mobile - So I (FTM 23) live in an upstairs flat, my downstairs naibor R (M 52) has had a stroke and has limited mobility because of this. I have been ill lately and the grass (which was neatly cut 2 months prior but I haven't kept up with it because of my health) was getying badly overgrown, due to the current weather it's gone crazy and was easily knee high, so I decided to tackle the task today, I was cutting the grass in my seperate back garden (we both have fenced in back gardens and a shared front garden) and I decided I'd deal with the front grass too, I used to do this on a monthly basis so it isn't something out of the ordiany. I cut the grass as I normally would, going around the shrubs (that if planted) the tree and the patches I knew had bulbs underneath, took me all of maby an hour. As im coiling up the extension lead (my strimmer is electric) my naibor hobbles out his house, I asked how he was and he replied "pretty fucking angry now" so I'm like why? To condense a rather heated... I suppose lecture? That he gave me while I stood and nodded - he was upset that I'd cut the grass after it had rained because it ment that the wet chunks of grass would be hard to get off the path (I've never left grass on the path, I always sweep it as he's got limited mobility and I don't want him to slip) he was mad that I cut it without asking him (I've lived here for 5 years and he moved in less than a year ago and has never participated in any yard work) he was mad that the strimmer was making noise (it's pretty quiet to be honest but I can understand the sound being irritating) he was mad that I used a strimmer and not a mower (I don't own a mower) and he was mad that I cut down all the wild flowers (dandilions, that was the only flowers I cut with the strimmer, I went around everything else) he called me useless and rude at least 6 times while ranting at me, and he mannaged to spit all over me too which was unpleasant for context the parts in brackets are true facts, however I didn't get a chance to say anything at this point as he was ranting at me like I was a child (even tho I'm a father, besides the point tho) I mannaged to say "I didnt realise" and he cut me off, told me not to talk back to him and to have more manners next time, then he shuffled back into his flat. The funny thing about it is that he's moving out next week, so I don't understand why what the front lawn looks like is that much of an issue for him? Like surely I've just made it easier since he now won't have knee high wet grass flopping into the path while he's trying to move out... My spouse said I could have just waited for him to move out but I genuinely didn't know he'd have such an issue with me cutting the grass since that's what I've done every month for the last 5 years I've lived here.
