I have been a vegetarian by choice for 10 years now, and for every family gathering I would eat whatever options I could, bring something for myself, or get something separately after leaving without ever complaining. I have lived states away from my family for about 5 years and every year I fly to them for Christmas. This particular year I couldn't make that work and fly up for Thanksgiving instead. This decision was made around halloween time so they all knew for about a mouth to plan for me. I flew in the night before and had no time to prepare anything for myself which was made known. When we sat down for dinner I found the only options I was given to eat were mashed potatoes and bread. Even the green beans were made with bacon so I couldnt even have them. Once realizing this, my aunts solution was to take frozen peas she happen to have and microwave them for me. Then when I reacted unenthusiasticly, not rudely btw, she was very disappointed and me and even said "well thats the best I got for you." AITA for expecting my family, who's known for years about my dietary restriction for years, to accommodate for me this one time?
