I (18F) have a friend (18M) i’ve known since childhood. Our parents are friends and we were close as children, however we stopped speaking until we reconnected recently. Our relationship was flirty, with the occasional make out session (once or twice). However, I did express to him that if we were to do ‘anything’ i’d want it to be casual and not considered a relationship. I told him I wasn’t in a headspace to date, and I understood that flirting without dating is strange to most people. I explicitly said I didn’t think we were dating. He seemed fine with it, but recently keeps referring to himself as my boyfriend. It’s always in passing and a joking way, eg ‘i’m such a good boyfriend’ or ‘best boyfriend ever’. AITA for flirting without wanting to date, because recently i’ve started feeling like such a huge jerk. For reference - it’s not that i’m a girl that gets around or anything. He’s the first boy i’ve ever even flirted with or kissed. I don’t want to date at the moment as im super swamped with work, school and extracurriculars, especially considering I barely scraped through last year (grade wise) and don’t want to fail this year.
