Planning and communication has always been a pain point in our relationship and something that ends up causing arguments. Yesterday my buddy called me up and wanted to go skate for a few hours in the evening. I told him yes that’s cool and agreed to meetup. My girlfriend usually works a 12 hour shift on sundays and doesn’t get off until about midnight so since we didn’t have any plans I didn’t really mention it to her right then and there. She ended up coming home at about 4pm and said she had been working her other job and was off for the day. I told her that’s cool and let her know I was going to meetup with my friend in the next few hours to skate. I told her I was under the impression she was working her double and told her I was planning to text her before leaving the house to let her know where I’m at. She got pretty upset saying I never let her know plans, never come to her first to let her know what’s going on, and just saying I’m overall leaving her in the dark on things. She rarely gives me notice far in advance for her plans and says she doesn’t let me know because I don’t let her know. I offered to cancel to go skating and stay back with her if she’d like to do something, but she refused saying “it’s cool go hang with your friend” in a very salty attitude. Going to hang with my friend for a few hours at the skate park seems like a very insignificant thing and I’m just going with the flow of the day. AITA? TLDR; my (29m) gf (28f) ended up getting pretty upset and into an argument with me because I only let her know a few hours in advance to go hang with my friend even though we didn’t have plans that day. AITA?
