I am the older brother and my sister recently had her first child. We are a large tightly nit family that have always been hands on with each other. The issue is that my sister hates that I do not keep my finger nails short and find the fact that I do not disgusting and has always told me so. It does not matter what reason I give, the fact that I have longer than the stereotypical short male nails disgusts her. Since my niece has been born, my sister has stated that until I cut all my nails I am forbidden from holding my niece. I have never had my nails never grow longer than half an inch or 1.5cm. My nails are kept clean and even before i interact with my niece (sister often leaves her with my parents) I make sure to wash my hands. I see my sister and her family a few times a week buy otherwise have no contact. Is my sister being an asshole for refusing to let me hold my niece just because my nails are too long for her liking?
