Wanted to post this for sometime and get some opinions so here goes. People involved are J: roommate I met at orientation for a new job we both were hired at K: J`s fiance at the time. Me: well that's easy. This story takes place more then ten years ago when I was 21. I had just got a new job and met J at the orientation, while there we hit it off and became friends, afterwards he invited me back to his apt where I met his at the time fiance. We all became good friends. After a few months they asked me to move it with them, they had a second room and thought it would be fun. I said yes and moved in within the month. When I did K set a few ground rules. 1. Bill's first then fun things. 2. Someone buys food for themselves then no eating without asking first otherwise all food bought is shared for the whole apt. 3. All bills are split between all three of us fairly. After living with them for a few months and having some good times we decided we wanted a game console to play together on. We decided on a xbox 360. But we couldn't buy one at the time, so we went to a rent a center and rented one with a big flat screen and a couch. After about a month the electric bill went up big time. Come to find out that on nights where J didnt work the next day he would stay up late gaming till nearly 5 am. Then spent the whole day while me and K were at work. So when they asked me to pay even more towards the electric bill which nearly doubled I said no. I was nearly flat broke after paying bills towards the apt and personal one like for my car payments, and insurance on it. So as punishment on my day off J and K took the power cord to the xbox and hid it before leavin to go out with family for the day. More then a little pissed I went into there room and found the power cord in HIS top dresser drawer. I took it and played some xbox. When J and K found out they were pissed I went snooping in there room and kicked me out, saying they could no longer trust me. So a gathered my things and went and moved back to my parents. So I have to two questions. 1. Am I the ashole for not paying 1/3 the electric bill that I didnt raise? 2. Am i the asshole for going into their room and getting the power cord?
